Our Macleod renovation involved upgrading a 1960’s weatherboard home into a more contemporary layout, yet still honouring the original late art deco features internally. The kitchen was widened to combine a new dining area with large double glazed timber sliding doors opening to an expansive spotted gum deck. A new bathroom with the original wrought iron bath was built as well as a spacious laundry.
For extra living space, a studio with double glazed timber windows and sliding doors was created and clad in timber weatherboards to match the main house. Existing floorboards were reinstated in the studio along with an original double hung sash window to maintain a strong connection with the original design. Finally, the front concrete patio was replaced with a timber framed spotted gum deck and covered verandah to take advantage of the northern morning sun.
